Cooperator - 8/30/2024 04:18 I started buying ultrafiltered milk when I found out it lasts a lot longer in the fridge before going sour.

I think you mean ultra-pasteurized milk.  It keeps longer because it is heated to a higher temp. before chilling.
It is easy to find in some C-stores and groceries because it has a longer shelf life date, along with half and half
and cream.  With todays prices, it is a shame to throw out sour milk.
I wonder if it loses some quality and flavor when it is processed like that.

I know what ultrapasteurized milk is. We had it here for at least 40 years. It's usually in a cardboard package, and you can keep it unrefrigerated like canned food. It's processed with higher temperatures to kill the bacteria.

Ultrafiltered milk is a different thing. It's sold here in plastic bottles, and it has a longer best-before date than regular milk. I think they remove the bacteria by filtering.
