Just depends on what you want.  Our new house 25 years ago I thought about millings until a neighbor said it tracks into the house and garage so bad.  Our driveway is only for our personal vehicles, car and pickup, no heavy trucks.  I went with washed stone, about the size of my thumb nail.  It is to big to stick in the tread of the tire, but still good to walk on and I don't turn my ankle.  Just this spring I put on my first recoat of stone.  So every 25 years a layer of stone is not to bad, I think.
