east central ND | A proposed 25,000 head dairy is on the table in the eastern edge of ND. And another 12,500 head dairy in SE North Dakota. How many acres of quality hay, corn, and silage does it take to feed 37,500 animals? Will an end user like that have any effect on corn basis 30 or 40 miles away?
I would say that now most of the local corn goes to ethanol plant which is about 50 or 60 miles from the area the proposed dairies will be at. The e plant is kinda in between the dairies proposed locations.
