Yes, Lisinopril can give you a cough- there are many other blood pressure meds to try if that is the case. I prefer to be off meds if possible, but if they improve my health then I'm in.
I don't like to think of myself as being altruistic regarding big Pharma. I read the book "Empire of Pain" about the Sacklers and opioids and that saddens me. I once thought that being on the Dietary Guidelines committee would be good, but I do not play politics very well. It is big business and money talks. Are farmers altruistic and are they "feeding the world" or at the end of the day, do the prices matter, are they looking to make money and feed their family, do BTO's get ahead and does money talk?
I try to evaluate the the science the best I can and don't care for data being manipulated. I've been in this business a long time. Glad to be on the retired side of things.
