I’ve done custom work for farmers that I know and have never had any problems with getting paid for the work done in the past….So how do guys protect themselves if you’re approached to custom farm a fairly large farm? I wouldn’t have any connection to the tenant who is renting the property, he’s not from my area. So that’s what makes me a little nervous. Most custom work I currently do is for my seed customers or neighbors that I’ve always had good faith with…. Do others just make sure and get a written contract? Or do something different with the grain until custom work has been paid for?
Any advice from others that do custom work would be appreciated. Thanks
A simple contract stipulating services offered and the pricing thereof would suffice. |
