Madison Co. Virginia | That is the D. It's a little hard to see in that photo, but the D had an overhead-valve engine with no chassis at all. The front axle was cantilevered off of the cylinder block, and the radiator tank was bolted to the head. The rocker cover was directly below the radiator.
All other two-cylinder tractors had a frame of some sort to tie the front axle back to the crankcase.
The C/GP tractors had a flathead engine. The A and B tractors that replaced the GP had an overhead valve engine, as did the G, H, and R tractors.
