I did watch the first part of this. I think that "officialdom" does vary, but slightly. And all within a pretty close range. And it is more related to when to treat.

My clinic provider uses the guidelines from the American Academy of Family Practitioners at 140/90 when time to treat that Dr Berry was referring to. Here's a link to that study data:

These recommendations do not vary that much from the American Academy of Cardiology/American Heart Association or the European Society of Hypertension. Here's a chart for that comparison:

I doubt that the differences are that much related to "big Pharma" money going to the AHA, but rather it's based on data. It also depends on your other risk factors. It would be a good topic to discuss with your physician.
