Question relating coc strip till and calmer rolls. I will put calmers on my 612c stalkmaster formthis fall. Plan is to turn the chopper off, or let it also chop for COC?

I haven't been able to test Calmers with choppers but I will make a educated guess and tell you what I would do.

Calmers do a fine job when the crop is green and getting killed with the combine. But after it freezes and starts to dry, and you get those days where the humidity is high, they still do a decent job, but the particle size increases especially on the stalk. So my guess would be that early in the season, they will size some particles, but later in the season when things get 'tough', you will benefit from running the choppers in COC. If I had that ability, I sure would. Thats' here in my climate. If you are down south, I suspect it wouldn't be as big of a deal with significantly better weather for mineralization. North of here, likely even more benefit from running both.

Good luck!
