Latimer, Iowa (north central) | If anything I think they are more focused on the smaller producer, very big on diverse farms. They seem to be well funded with staff to help with any types of practice. We do the small grains cost share, cover crop, and nitrogen reduction. In several of the programs I hit the max acres per producer and can’t qualify all of the acres. I am think small grains is up to 200 acres but not sure on that without looking up.
I do their cover crop cost share because it can be paired with CSP/EQUIP and pays $15 an acre. There isn’t an acreage max on that. It does disqualify you from signing up for any carbon programs like cargil’s regen ag but those require more paperwork and documentation and when I tried Cargill it only averaged 7.50 an acre and had to wait for payment. Cargill was like 4 times the work too.
