Sanilac Co. Michigan | You think that's bad, try growing soft white wheat. There's a premium over red, but boy there's a lot discounts that can eat it up. Too many heavy dews when it's dead ripe can lead to low falling numbers/sprouts and most varieties don't have much resistance to fusarium. Can be a real double whammy. The positive thing is miller's want it and will take it, with no drying charge, at 20% or a little better.
Think I read somewhere that nothing good happens to wheat once it gets below 30%. Definitely not something to grow for the faint of heart! | |
