Absolutely agree!! This is why once in a while we get lucky with "where did it all come from?" yields. Going from APH to field record yields happens with basically the exact same ears per acre and within +/- 10% of kernels per ear. Field records happen when late-season plant health and late-season weather produce huge kernel weights. It helps a ton to have adequate moisture and cooler than normal weather to extend dough to black layer by an extra week.

No local nor regional weather forecast at the beginning of July can predict this situation in late August...
