I plant 30” beans and have a few late escapes but not bad, no worse than neighbors that plant narrow rows. Definitely not enough to justify a planter that cost that much more. As far as double planting, I would use cover crops before I did that. You’ll probably lose yield doing either, but covers seem to keep the weeds down well. They definitely have a lot of drawbacks too, I don’t plant them yet, and won’t until the government basically forces us too
