I plant quite a bit in 30" rows. As moose said beef up the herbicide program. You have to be aggressive to keep in front of WH. Also make sure you're planting a bushy bean. Mine close the rows in around the end of July and right now you almost can't tell they're 30" because it's a solid canopy. Good growing weather helps with that. In my opinion there's better ways to control it than spending the time, fuel, and wear of double planting.
