Mercer County, Ohio on the Indiana line | I wonder if it has something to do with plant health as the tar comes on. As a corn plant is finishing grain full it’s putting everything into the ear and not sending natural defenses into the leaf tissue because most nutrients are getting pulled back out of the leaves. I wonder if the yield contest plots that they have better nutrient density within the plant than I seem to get in my commercial corn fight tar like this?
Just thinking out loud as to why April corn got it harder than May. No tar to speak of where I live north with end of may corn and it’s a little heavier south 10-12 miles where they’ve got a lot of early may corn. |
