Southern MN | Here in Mn our needy state raised our RE taxes 19% pretty well across the board. The townspeople along with a mail in ballot drive for the young people that graduated from our district and are in college just passed a new school referendum which will raise our RE taxes another 15-20%. Don’t have a firm opinion on the school but don’t like the method they used to pass it. I know it is the first thing landlords are going to bring up when we sit down and I can’t say I blame them. State says your $10000/acre farm is worth $13000. $350 rent - $70 taxes = $280/$13000= 2.25% return. Their living expenses are also up 20-30%. Don’t get me wrong rents look like they have to come down but it is a hard case to make. These people are friends of mine also, these are not conversations I am looking forward to having | |
