EC SD | I am sure Joe would say these maps are biased too - made by whining farmers or some such lie. The crop was made two months ago.... blah blah blah...
When I look at the map of last 14 days precip and the soil moisture map, it tells me that the eastern corn belt's early corn is likely down from records to somewhat below APH. There was also a large percentage of late planted corn this year, and it is going to be well below APH. A dry August with low soil moisture is not a combo for high yielding soybeans either. In fact my experience with that is 25% to 75% yield loss from my soybean record yields. Maybe a saving rain will come through, but the window is closing rapidly with this end-of-August heatwave...
Honestly, the Western corn belt has a ton of issues this year too. I guess Central Illinois will just have to produce 500 bu per acre this year, to make up the shortfall elsewhere. | |
