Subject: RE: Markets tonight?

Central Indiana
Open tonight I’m guessing green as the market trades the weeks forecast for the central and eastern corn belt. More so on the bean side of things since majority of beans in the area are in critical pod fill period. Could really reduce the seed size and weight on some of the later varieties if we don’t get some rain. We have 2.3s and 2.8s this year and they are starting to turn. Majority of pods are filled out on those some a little less full but not many. Most around here plant 2.8-3.5s and those beans are still solid green and in need of a shot of rain. Could really cause some hurt one those. The beneficial stress period for beans is over and anything now will take from bushels in the tank. Corn is mostly fine, quite a bit is dying from disease already so heat is going to take it quick humidity or not. This week will hurry harvest up by a week in this area. Some guys will be rolling in 2-3 weeks which is a little earlier than normal. Corn maybe up 2-3 beans up 5-10. I do think the opening tonight will set the precedent for this weeks trading performance. We could see a little boost with exports picking up a bit and adding stress to a crop in grain filling time, albeit I do believe we have some more downside to go until combines roll. Very close to a low IMO but not there yet. Stay solvent stick to your guns and follow the plans. Market will correct itself when the time is right and you just need to survive until then. Watch your inputs, cut back on those brand new varieties that salesmen are pushing. Kill the added fu fu in the starter for next year. Pay some taxes instead of blowing a wad on a something not needed. Pre pay pre pay pre pay. Shop for chemicals maybe go the wholesale route. Skip the hopper throttles and revlines. Keep your checkbook in the drawer and out of the pocket. This too shall pass. This time next year I believe we will be at a better price point at least back above break even for most. Just remember you can’t control the markets but you can control if the markets control you!
