Pittsburg, Kansas

That would have been the Johnson brothers north of Girard. Craig and Chris. I attended that sale. You may have seen me. We actually bought their place with all the grain bins and that was our northern farm center for the ground we picked up in that area that they had been farming. Picked up about 2,000 rented acres in that deal. I think they farmed about half again that much more.

We have since sold that farm. I did not want to sell the ground but retiring I was not looking forward to renting out the bins and maintaining the farmstead where it is about 25-30 miles from our home place. A neighbor from up there kept bugging me to sell it. Think he stopped by the house every day for a week. Finally decided it was a good deal to let it go. Then of course Uncle Sam wanted his cut. That kind of hurt. But I am glad it is gone. They needed the bin storage and I did not need the headache.
