Nw Iowa | Reality, agree 100%. Tax the rich turns into tax the middle class. Everybody is fine with taxing the rich as long as it isn’t them. The reality is very rich find a way around it, middle class pays. The other reality is that we are beyond broke now and all government politicians can talk about is new spending programs. I posted on here awhile back that fed government took in 340 billion in July, spent 570 or 580 billion. Shortfall was very close to 8 billion per day.( Figures are from memory, so may be off slightly but daily loss is accurate) So reality is we can’t start anymore new programs, we have to figure out ways to pay for old and easiest would be that everybody takes a cut.
. Yes Minnesota has a surplus but they are finding new ways to tax, tax, tax. I believe that projections are for a deficit in next two or three years as Minnesota has enacted a ton of new social programs in last sessions. . Also some Minnesotas social programs are coming out of businesses and employers. Look at new pregnancy leave for both parents. Sounds great, but if you have a employee that is needed for peak season work in what ever industry the business is in ( very limited construction in winter months) your employee can take pregnancy leave. So another social program that isn’t even a tax but another cost to do business in Mn.
It is a poor argument to talk about a 4000$ cut on families because they can’t buy Chinese junk. I think a lot of reason a lot of this stuff is bought because of cheap price in the first place. How much of this China junk is really needed? I look at grandkids Christmas gifts that are made in China that are usually in the junk barrel by Feb. Everybody would be better off if it had stayed in China. To say that this would hurt families is a very poor argument. All they have to do is not buy. I guess I have never minded luxury sales tax, If you don’t want to buy, magically there is no tax. If you want to trade for new Surburban every year, you are going to pay sales tax. | |
