| First off the conservatives do no longer make up anything close to 80% of the Republican party.
That said I miss the fiscal conservatives those that stood for less spending and small deficits or God forbid balance budgets, unfortunately they are long gone those left back in the 1980's when the party bought into the trickle down Budget crap. I have stated that this country needs to get its fiscal house in order by a two prong process both spending cuts and tax increases, for every 2 dollars in cuts there needs to be 1 dollar in increases, and the cuts need to start with the welfare given to the richest among us, this includes farm subsidies and corporate welfare.
And it is NO surprise that goes over like a lead balloon
On the social side I am a live and let live person, not sure why so many on the right get all up in arms by somebody elses lifestyle and believe it needs to be the government's job to monitor somebody's life style or what books they read inside their homes.
So I guess you tell me what percent of today's Republican party still believe' s in those onservitives principals because it sure ain't 80
