So would a guy whose normal practice be to spray fungicide in July, but has extreme drought and decides not to spray fungicide not be doing the same thing?
What would the decision be if crop insurance wasn't part of the equation?
Crop insurance has many folks abandoning best practices. Farmers seem to be striving for a home run or a disaster. We sprayed our corn in 2012 with fungicide even though at the time one could have made the argument that it wouldn't be worth it. I have a neighbor who always seems to be more worried about "gaming " the insurance than making sound decisions for his farm. That maybe works 1 in 10 years at best.
