Subject: trans fats step in the right direction

Pittsburg, Kansas

Stop and think what the disruption to the big food industry would be if the public suddenly went anti seed oils and started reading labels on foods. It is the fats in the oils that make the foods shelf stable. If they had to modify all their recipes to include animal fats instead of the seed oil fats shelf life would tank. Much of the highly processed boxed food would have to cease to be. It would be a BIG deal. A whole industry is based on its use. It is cheap and shelf stable. Good fats are not.

I know what I want for my own health. I really hope science can find a solution and make seed oils safe. They have cut out a lot of the trans-fats (though not all). At least that is a step in the right direction. We kind of need it to feed the world population.

This is no small issue if the anti seed oil idea gets spread into the general population. The dozen or so multi-national big food companies are going to have a big problem. They don't want people moving back to a diet of whole healthy foods. They make their money by using cheap commodity ingredients and making high priced highly processed boxed and bagged food stuffs.
