Fruita CO | That's a good story! Sad part is, there's not much fruit in Fruita any more. The winter of 1962-63 was so cold, -30 for 2-3 months, that it killed the peach trees and a lot of the apples...they said the trees split wide open. Orchards were bulldozed and planted to sugar beets or pinto beans. The fruit industry is all in the East end of the valley now, Palisade is still famous for peaches. | |
