Malta, Illinois | I think you answered your own question. If a person has adequate moisture some heat and nitrogen a little heat for a few days won't hurt a thing. It will probably speed the onset of harvest by a few days or a week. For people that are living on the edge moisture wise and have denitrification issues due to early or mid-summer wetness, a few days of hot dry weather could shrivel a corn and bean crop pretty quickly. The good news is any hot spell appears at this time to be short lived. There could even be a return to below normal temps and above normal precipitation around Labor Day or after. That is very uncertain at this time though. | |
