Fruita CO | Guess I should jump in on this one, I did a 5020 turbo for my friend mentioned in my thread above.
No, the 5010 block is not the same as a 6030. The "turbo-built " 531 and 404 engines are completely different internally (and externally) from the early engines. As others said cu. In. is the only common spec.
The manifolds from a 6030-7520 engine can be adapted to a 5020 head by plugging and redrilling and tapping one hole in the exhaust ports. The one I did was totally successful, pump was turned up to get around 225 HP for the pulling sled but backed off with a torque screw to 175 to farm with...ran that way for many years, kicked ass with a 5-18's rollover plow.
The late 5020 engine was much improved from the 5010, as someone said, the 5010 had its problems .
