Eminent domain rarely pays market value for property though. They know you have to sell and they know they are going to own it and why should they pay market value when the government has given them the ok to buy it for whatever price they see fit. Who decides what is fair? They can run comparable properties all day long at you but that doesn’t matter for farm that you have had in your family for generations. It might not be stolen from you but it won’t be fair value either.

The situation with the family forced off land near area 51 is a good example. Those people went through some hard times.
