It would be interesting to take the USDA estimate, the Pro Farmer estimate and then let the Minnesota farmers on here give their estimates and average them out and then see who is the closest to the actual yield. Same could be done for each state.
Being as the USDA and other sources are never right according to many on here I'm sure farmers can do much better.
How you collecting the actual data? Farmers supplying or what the USDA comes up with in the end? Both could be very wrong. Basis I think over the year really gives a better glimpse of how the previous crop was. Here in Ohio the crop was huge in 2023 and the basis all year has reflected it. Don’t recall last time it was so poor at ethanol plant at the end of August. |
