Supposed to be hot this weekend, but it has been darn cool and no sunshine the past 2 weeks. I. Spring they we’re forecasting a hot summer, swing and a miss on that. Add in the smoke again, filtering out what little sun we do get.

The corn hasn’t really grown much the past 2 weeks. The cool season grasses are going gang busters! Isn’t corn more of a warm season grass?

Folk are still trying to get first cutting hay off the road ditches. We think it’s dried off a lot, but I see a lot of cut up road ditches and mud from these efforts. I guess it’s good the corn has subsoil moisture, but I think it’s still mighty wet down not too deep.

This corn crop is mighty frail in our back yard. Too much water, no sun no heat no N left.

Beans actually look pretty good. Might be able to fill the empty corn bins with beans if we get a great September.
