Kansas gets zero power or benefit from this proposal and legislators said as much last night.
I don't disagree with anything else you've said, but Kansas is already part of the Southwest Power Pool which spans several states. Sometimes Kansas is exporting power it can't use and sometimes it's importing power it can't readily generate. It's a bit foolish to think that power generated within a state needs to stay within a state. A large power pool is good for stability and economics. If you don't believe that just think back to how well ERCOT faired that winter storm.
The HVDC line is a good thing for the power grid as a whole, but no doubt figuring out where it can and should run is a mess. |
