On my rental I have them get the power turned on in their name and figure that if they check out good with power company that's good enough for me but probably does nothing for criminal checks.
Be careful on this one. If they don’t pay and power is shut off, guess who gets to pay to turn back on when winter hits and pipes could freeze.
