As someone who started this farm from zero acres and did not have my forefathers throw me the keys to any land to start with, I going to point this out from my point of view.


The government is a bad way to "equalize" this, that said. Policies like stepped up basis do make it more difficult for those who want to start out to get started. Many of our ancestors left Europe to flee from the lords because they were sick of being serfs. We have been slowly reverting back to the that system since then.

Much of the land is rented out (lords) and the farmer that rents is the serf. The 28 year old has a nearly impossible task of trying to get enough money set aside to buy their first chunk of ground because little is available, and they are bidding against operations with centuries of wealth accumulated.

Depending on how you were set up is probably how your opinion aligns with what is being proposed becuase..... see my tag line
