Two hundred pairs (older cows 200-400 pound calves) at auction a couple of weeks ago. All split, good size cows (1400 pound plus) in the $1.40 range. 225 pound steer calves over a thousand a head with the four weights $3.50. Do the math. It takes quite a few heifers kept back to replace 200 mature cows but as long as cull cow prices stay high it's hard not to cash them in.
