I have some old iTune files that didn't get converted and now I have no way to convert them.  I was reading that ffmpeg could convert them but to date I've had no success.  I wish there was as script that would do the job but haven't found one.

Or a tutorial that goes step by step in clear non-ambiguous terms.  Too often somebody assumes you know some arcane term or method that you don't.
