Pittsburg, Kansas | Unfortunately that likely would not help much. Because the current curriculum would be the wrong thing to teach.
We have been living current guidelines for 50 years. And you see how well they work.
When a calorie is considered a calorie, be it from sugar, candy bar, green beans, steak or sawdust the eat less move more mantra is going to struggle. They are going to have to eat a LOT less for it to work. And people are NOT going to stay hungry all the time with food abundance like we have.
Satiety and hormones (namely insulin response levels) have to be considered. That is not the current main stream view and needs to change. Once people understand that high insulin levels make it impossible to burn body fat, things start making sense. To burn body fat get insulin levels low. To get insulin levels low stop eating the foods (too much and too often) that cause it to raise. What causes insulin levels to rise? Fat doesn't at all. Meat protein only a little. Ding, ding, ding, ding. Carbohydrates! Sugar! That is what causes a significant rise in insulin levels. Again......IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO METABOLIZE BODY FAT WITH INSULIN LEVELS IN THE BODY HIGH. Full stop. Once a person understands that, it all starts to make sense why 3/4 of the population is fat and over weight.
