There are not that many filter makers, nobody makes 100% of their line themselves. Any filter company can make good ones, as well as poor ones. It's all about e cost. Look at NAPA, for instance, they have more than one grade of filters, same source, just different prices, and quality. Sort of like seed corn, in the respect that you can't tell what you have until it's too late. Not sure who is making JD's filter right now, or to what quality level.
