Subject: They want to build a 5 mile wide transmission line corridor through Ks, Mo, and Illinois.

Let see Jon, you claim that 5% of ag land is going to go to solar farms. With the great majority of that will come from desert pasture ground which could still be grazed under the solar panels. All the while 30% of the corn ground is used to make ethanol to meet an ethanol mandate.

Do you really think that is a winning argument? Personally I would not be pushing that agenda

Why don’t you do some research before you talk about things you do not know.

1) it’s IMPOSSIBLE to transmit to scale power from the desert Southwest to the PJM grid. Aka The US northeast.

2) They are proposing 5 mile wide corridors just to link grids.. “good luck with that.” In order to stabilize things.. You’ll lose ALOT in the transmission.. and it’s going to cost an exorbitant amount to build these transmission lines.. plus the solar farms.. etc.

3)  The Western Grid is DC.. the eastern is AC.. you’ll have to convert.. then the rate of loss increases once converted to AC.
….

Again, the production of Corn is a carbon sink.. The US Corn belt sequesters the most CO2 at its peak in the world.. cumulative it’s still 2nd to the Amazon.

We have the infrastructure to produce, transport and store Corn vs electrons (see above.)

Furthermore, if you need a different crop.. you don’t have to rip out solar panels to grow it.
…

A five mile wide corridor through Illinois.. uh huh.  That’ll fly. ****
