East Central Nebraska | Hi All, my neighbor has a MXM 140 that has the alternator light on and not charging. 12V running. It has many wires to it. He took them off to clean up the ends to start with and called to see if I could assist as he didn't realize that many wires went to the alternator. This a pretty sharp guy and I gave him some crap. He said I should know better being almost 70 LOL. I think his Alternator is out after messing with it last night, but not sure on the wiring. It has 3 terminals and found on the internet what those are. I know the heavy charging wire on the B+ terminal. Figured the wire with power on with key on goes on the D+ terminal and then the tack wire on the W+. Those wire have the nut attached to the terminal, so I know those for sure go on separate studs.
The fuse was blown to the wire that had power with Key on. That didn't help get it charging when we put a new one in. Also a wire that that has probably a resistor box or something on it and a connector with a pin on the opposite end. He didn't unhook that connector, and was unhooked but the pin looked clean like it was hooked to something. Just don't see the connector for that. He then had a wire to ground on the mounting nut of the alternator. I'm just not sure and don't know anyone with this kind of tractor in the area. So the wires I have in question are brown with yellow tracer and thinking that is Tach wire and should go to W terminal. Pink with black tracker (fused and power with key on)to the D+ terminal. There was another wire that I can't remember the color but probably thinking it goes to the B+ terminal or the D+ terminal, and then does have a ground wire(is it a ground?) and the wire with that small box on it. Does that get hooked somewhere and maybe that came unhooked in the past and don't see the connector for that. Hopefully not to confusing. I didn't find a wiring diagram in the book. The tach wasn't working, but after moving wires back around where I thought they should be the tach was working, but not charging. Any help or pictures appreciated. Thanks Greg | |
