Subject: The life expectancy of a coal fired plant is 35 to 45 years

Depending on which news source on follows.

The average age of the coal fired plants being taken off coal is 54 years, what plants that can economically be useable are being converted to natural gas. You people act like every plant is being tore down and the site is all reclaimed. The reality is that the companies replace the coal burning mechanism with a larger capacity more efficient natural gas burning mechanism. And are using solar and wind to increase overall capacity. Since 1990 generation capacity in the USA has went from 700 1000 kw of generation to 1200 1000 kw of generation. It's not like we are not increasing generation.

The majority of the coal plants "closed by the so called greenies " are actually updated to a more efficient source of power, Natural gas and or some are going to a Natrium reactor. Also many power companies are looking into using minny reactor on these sites.

The power generation in this country like everything else is evolving as it always has. Change is hard for many on this site.
