I believe now a 3rd class physical is required. I have the 2nd class physical right now. The 107 licensing is required even if you're only taking pictures I believe. I could be wrong though. I know here in my area lots of guys flying drones without proper licensing in our area. Seems to be not enforced by the FAA. Good luck. Neil
