I think a simple way to look at it is this, what did it cost to put a crop in the ground back in 2019/2020?
Corn was roughly (not including rent) $500/ac? Beans were around that $300/ac mark? What’s it cost this year?
I’d say most guys have 20% more cost in growing the crop than they did 4-5 years ago. However, the price is $0.50-$0.80 higher, so I’d say that this year is pretty comparable to 2019/2020. Only difference is that Uncle Sam isn’t sending out any checks, so just gotta take it and work with it
No not even close, i think corn cost per acre in 2019/20 was $350ish. Thats been and id have to get receipts dug out but anhydrous was $350 to 400 a ton and p was under 50cents a pound with k around 30cents. Corn was around $220 a bag. I average $265 this year for it. Made more money then than what is on books for this year unless you got it contracted right. |
