Subject: RE: Options for late planted hay crop

S Mn
I've done all kinds of different things in the past millet, wheat, oats, rye, sorghum, after wheat comes off or in drown outs ect, allot of things can work but this time of year rain is about the biggest factor. Oats, oats is by far the best bang for the cost (normally can find it for $5 a bushel) however This year I did wheat on some (had free leftover treated wheat that needed to get used up and did rye because we harvested 7 acres worth being we didnt get it made for hay on time with all the rain, its all up and both look good. But if you need to go out and find seed go with oats.
