Chest or upright? Our Whirlpool upright (manual defrost), has a drain plug/hose at the bottom you put in a pan. We just take a tilting floor fan and point it at the interior and crank it up. No heat required and works pretty fast just melting on it's own. We do pull out easy chunks but with the evaporator coils in the shelves we just let most of it melt..
