Sounds like a BMW problem. It's 2024. Maybe they should try to engineer a car that gets 40 mpg and doesn't fall apart and cost $100,000. Maybe partner with Toyota and sell their cars with a BMW badge on them. There is no reason for a gas guzzler in todays world. We had a ford pinto that got 35 mpg in 1974 and it went everywhere it needed to. In 50 years that 35 mpg should have doubled.
They have partnered, but the opposite way of what you posted.
Toyota currently sells a BMW car with a Toyota badge on it….
