NW ILLINOIS | Need model number of engine.
If it's the old style kohler with the
round coil and points, then put a meter
on the + terminal of the coil. With the
key on it should be 12V. If not find the
problem. Most of the time it's the ignition
switch.
Next put the probe on the - terminal
and rotate engine slowly you should see
the voltage go down to almost 0 if the
points are closing / making contact.
