SE SD | You're correct that genetics & seed technology has contributed greatly to higher yields. However, I've planted countless brands of seed corn over the years. Every brand has 1-3 really great numbers for a certain geographical area. Some numbers are even the same thing, just sold in different brands. As a farmer, it pays to do a deep dive into things like production dates, lot numbers, re-plant policy, who owns what companies, etc. Shop around & make deals! Should be able to get good double stack corn under $200 per bag. | |
