Appreciate the info, honestly.

That's the downside of what we have now, and the grain cart style unloader...which is why I could be persuaded to adapt to the IDEAL style unloader, especially if we could get the 485bu and 6.0bu/sec unload...or something similar.

I have talked with the Gleaner folks a couple times about the unloader system, I lost a combine customer to an 7250 CIH because he broke the unloader u-joint 3 falls in a row...admitted it was probably his fault getting quick on the fold button, but still made him mad enough to trade...I'll get him back someday.

So, we know it's shortcomings, but it does have some advantage as well. No one uses less power than we do, or as easy on grain...but, are those things less important today than they were 20-30 years ago?

Chris

I guess those aren’t as important as they used to be. When you have grain elevators that give a certain percentage for damage, trash or foreign matter and no increases in price for zero damages trash the incentives just aren’t there. Growing seed beans it is there. When had the Masseys I was growing beans for 3 different companies and seed rice for one. We always got compliments for how clean our seed was. Hard to cash a compliment at the bank but a sense of pride was worth a lot. And when I sent a load of beans or milo or whatever to town I’d much rather it be clean as can be with zero damage than to send 100 bushels worth of sticks and pods. Trucking costs the same whether you are hauling 1,000 bushels of good stuff or 900 bushels of good stuff and 100 of crap. Hauling 8-10 loads a day it’s like getting a load hauled for free.

You mentioned using less power. Bumping 24-25 gallon an hour with a 9895 Massey versus the 9560 hitting 14-16 and maybe 18-20 in heavy mud pushing the same head and faster it’s a no brainer. There were days in bad mud where the 9895 with the Cat wasn’t making it past 7-8pm without needing fuel.
