Western, New York | We are trying timed AI for the first time and I have some questions on the timeline as I am seeing alot of different things out there and want to make sure I dont screw up on when we have the breeder come.
Our vet says for cows fertigyl shot and cidr day 1, pull cidr and give a shot of lut day 7, then give another shot of fertigyl and breed day 10. For heifers its 5 days with the Cidr and breed on day 8.
I see other timelines that say cidr and fert day 0, then pull cidr/lut on day 7 and fert/breed day 10 for cows (Day 0, 5, 8 respectively for heifers)
I also see timelines that say for cows fert/breed 60-66 hours after you pull the cidr and give a shot of lut.
Right now our initial fert/cidr insertion is 6 pm Thursday 8/1 for cows , the one heifer we have was done 6pm Saturday 8/3. As of right now I am planning to pull cidrs and give lut tomorrow ( Wednesday 8/8) and then breed saturday (8/10), this is going by the vet timeline calling the initial cidr/fert day 1. Alot of variables here and I want to make sure that I have the breeder setup for the right time, do I still have a 12 hour window to breed? When does that window start? Would it start at 6 pm Saturday 8/10? | |
