| +1, usually go 12-15# Alfalfa 2# or so Ladino Clover and 5-6 # Timothy form round bales, when was making small squares I only went 2-3 # Timothy. Seed salesman back about 20 years ago in one of the ugly dairy market downturns tod a fiend of mine if you want/need to save some money an seed the place to do it is on Alfalfa, your cost does not necessarily affect the value you will get from the seed. Some of you guys planting the higher rates of Alfalfa should cut the rate on a pass or two somewhere in the field and compare the results. We farmers too often listen to the University's, agronomists, seed salesman, which is fine, but we as farmers should also run our own simple field trials at times. | |
