yep...   '89  for this tractor.    After running it all afternoon on the disc mower,   I  measured the ohm's on the  sensor  and  it was  1.890-  so it definitely  changed with  the heat  from  8.946  when cold.
It's looking like  it's within the  gauge,  or the connection to it.
