Southern PA | Of the 3 you listed, 4840 all day. But, like some mentioned, they were often used as the heavy duty tillage tractor on Farms back in the day. A 4640 was more likely to have been a planter and/or grain cart tractor.

For that reason, I'd lean toward a 4640. The biggest thing you need to do is try to find out the history of whatever you are interested in. I'm sure there are 4840 tractors out there that didn't have the guts pulled out of them, and there are 4640 tractors that did. History, history, history!!

ETA.

Here's some pics of our 4640. PS, 3 remotes, 18.4 x 42 axle duals with matching 23° Firestone radials, upgraded AC system, new cab interior. All LED lights, even had a strobe. All original paint, except we touched up the front axle, and repainted the rear hubs/rims. Painted the axles black, as well as the side screens. (Probably heresy to some!) It was a cart tractor for us. We sold it last fall, upgraded to a newer tractor.

We sold it on a local consignment sale, a local jockey bought it. He was asking $35k for it, it lasted maybe 3 to 4 months. I don't know what he actually sold it for.

It was a solid tractor, just over 6k hours.
